Feature Description Level
Spellcasting You can cast spells using your Charisma as your spellcasting ability. You start with two cantrips and four 1st-level spells, with more gained as you level up. Your spellcasting is enhanced by the performance of your music or oration. 1st
Cantrips You know two cantrips of your choice from the bard spell list. You learn additional cantrips as you level up. 1st
Spell Slots Refers to how many spell slots you have for casting spells of 1st level and higher, as shown in the Bard table. You regain expended spell slots after a long rest. 1st
Spells Known You know four 1st-level spells of your choice. You can learn more as you level up, and can replace one spell known upon leveling. 1st
Spellcasting Ability Your spellcasting ability is Charisma. The DC for your bard spells' saving throws and your spell attack modifier both use your Charisma modifier. 1st
Ritual Casting You can cast any bard spell you know as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag. 1st
Spellcasting Focus You can use a musical instrument as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells. 1st
Bardic Inspiration As a bonus action, choose a creature within 60 feet (other than yourself) to gain a Bardic Inspiration die (d6). The creature can add the die to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. The die increases in size as you level up. 1st
Jack of All Trades Add half your proficiency bonus to any ability check that doesn't already include your proficiency bonus. 2nd
Song of Rest During a short rest, creatures that can hear your performance regain extra hit points (1d6). This increases as you level up. 2nd
Magical Inspiration (Optional) If a creature has Bardic Inspiration from you and casts a spell that restores hit points or deals damage, the creature can add the Bardic Inspiration die to the effect. 2nd
Bard College At 3rd level, choose a Bard College which grants you additional features at 3rd, 6th, and 14th levels. 3rd
Expertise Choose two skill proficiencies to double your proficiency bonus for ability checks using those proficiencies. You can choose additional proficiencies at 10th level. 3rd, 10th

Superior Inspiration At 20th level, if you have no uses of Bardic Inspiration left when you roll initiative, you regain one use. 20th

Feature Description
Spellcasting You have learned to untangle and reshape the fabric of reality, weaving magic through your music. Your spells are part of your vast repertoire, which you can tune to different situations.
Cantrips You know two cantrips of your choice from the bard spell list. You gain additional cantrips as you level up, as shown in the Cantrips Known column of the Bard table.
Spell Slots The Bard table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher. To cast a spell, expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots after a long rest. For example, you can cast Cure Wounds using either a 1st-level or a 2nd-level spell slot.
Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher You know four 1st-level spells of your choice from the bard spell list. The Bard table shows when you learn additional bard spells, and you can replace one of your known spells each time you level up, choosing a new spell from the bard spell list that fits your spell slots.
Spellcasting Ability Charisma is your spellcasting ability for bard spells. You use your Charisma modifier to determine your spellcasting rolls, including saving throw DC and attack rolls for spells.
